Her turbulent romance with the bullfighter Escamillo turns into a thrilling story\, expressed through impressive choreography\, complemented by the virtuoso technique of zapateado — rhythmic heel tapping that gives rise to the fire and passion of flamenco. \nThe performance masterfully combines Bizet’s original music\, the lively sound of several guitars\, shades of jazz\, and the expressiveness of flamenco singing. Under the creative direction of David Gutiérrez\, this production not only pays tribute to Prosper Mérimée’s work\, but also reflects the cultural diversity of Barcelona\, where he encountered the many languages and styles that surround the city. \nDavid Gutiérrez Molina is a striking phenomenon on the contemporary scene. Born in Barcelona in 1994\, he began studying flamenco at the age of four and\, at 16\, won the Best Flamenco Soloist award at the Gibraltar Festival. Today\, as the founder and choreographer of the Barcelona Flamenco Ballet\, he is leading the troupe to international recognition\, creating productions that have been performed on the biggest stages in Europe\, Asia\, and America. \nDavid is compared to “Freddie Mercury in flamenco” for his vibrant charisma\, powerful energy on stage\, and ability to touch audiences to the depths of their souls. Just as Freddie Mercury became a symbol of rock\, David Gutierrez has become an icon in the world of flamenco. \nCreated to win the hearts of both opera lovers and flamenco fans\, this show promises to be an enriching experience\, opening up a new paradigm in 21st-century performing arts.
